Called "Blacc Hollywood," Wiz's album is hyped to hit stores later this year. The 25-year-old rapper, who released his last album, "O.N.I.F.C.," in 2012, has already dropped the first single off of the forthcoming project, "Look Into My Eyes." "Blacc Hollywood," which also features a collaboration with The Weeknd, is named as such because "it just represents the lifestyle," Wiz told Vibe in June . "Not really like black people in Hollywood but just like a black attitude, not giving a [f--k] about anything. [Its like] just really blacking out on the world. We bringing that to Hollywood. Natives beat down 'Hollywood Indian' image
Bush took months to make the case for war in Iraq, giving the antiwar left plenty of time to prepare a response. "It will be a done deal before Hollywood is mobilized," Asner said. "This country will either bomb the hell out of Syria or not before Hollywood gets off its ass." Also, said Asner, unsuccessful efforts to prevent war in Iraq led to complacency among left-wing activists. "We had a million people in the streets, for Christ's sake, protesting Iraq, which was about as illegal as you could find. Did it matter? Is George Bush being tried in the high courts of justice?" asks Asner. "We've been so God-damned stung in this country by false wars, repeatedly, that, how can visit you believe in any just war with the history we have had?" Another reason some Hollywood progressives have been reticent to speak out against war in Syria, according to Asner, is fear of being called racist.
Source: http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Hollywood/2013/09/07/Ed-asner-hollywood-syria-black
North Hollywood man stabs sister to death, LAPD says
When film came around, our stories were dictated by non-native people, so we had Italians playing Indians," he said, adding that he would like to now play an Italian mafioso in a movie. "But now we have this wave of aboriginal writers and storytellers." Aboriginal activists have long complained that the so-called Hollywood Indian neither mirrors Native American contemporary reality nor their historical past. Acclaimed Abenaki documentary filmmaker Alanis Obomsawin, who returned to the festival with "Hi-Ho Mistahey," said audiences are more open to real stories about natives. "Where we're going is very different than where we've been," she said, saying the trend is rooted in indigenous peoples discovering their identities. "When you find your identity...
Source: http://www.foxnews.com/world/2013/09/06/natives-beat-down-hollywood-indian-image/
Ed Asner Explains Hollywood Silence on Obama, Syria: They 'Don't Want to Feel Anti-Black'
The baseball/softball group was as diverse as the sport itself with its Italian and American co-presidents, its Australian former major leaguer, Venezuelan softballer, a Japanese pro commissioner and a Cuban of influence. The squash gang came to play. In his opening comments, president N Ramachandran threw it Kim Kardashian down: "Squash is a sport that represents the future and not the past," he said. Ed Asner: Hollywood Not Criticizing Obama On Syria Because He's 'Black'
"I voted for him, but I'm not proud. He hasn't thrown himself on the funeral pyre. I wanted him to sacrifice himself. Instead, he has proved himself to be a corporatist, and as long as he's a corporatist, he's not my president," Asner said. "A lot of people have lost hope -- with the betrayals, the NSA spying ... People aren't getting active because 'Who gives a shit?' is essentially the bottom go line." Adds Farrell: "I'm frankly deeply disappointed in the president's foreign policy, war-making, his reliance on military rather then diplomatic responses, his use of drones, continued allowance of the Guantanamo prison. He's a disappointment to me and other people I know." As much as Obama is loved by Hollywood power-brokers, Asner says he doesn't fear backlash by speaking against the president.
Source: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/syria-why-hollywoods-anti-war-623326
